Hola,
How is everyone doing? I hope that all of the crazy things that you guys are doing aren't tiring you out too much. How do you fit that much stuff into just one week? Must be exhausting :).
This week was a weird mix of ups and downs. But first for the emotional details of my life. I know that the only real reason that you guys read these is just to know how I feel. Because I am a very important person... jk. :P But really, lets get on with it. Elder Madsen and I are in our 3rdish week together and I'm starting to understand where he comes from. He is very experienced in the mission and sometimes that translates into him knowing how we NEED to do everything. He is getting used to not being the AP but I can tell that it still frustrates him to not be in the "Loop". Also, he doesn't get sarcasm, which has led to some interesting/frustrating miscommunications. Fun. But otherwise, being with him has probably been one of the best things that has happened to me mission-wise. I have been super busy with him and he has helped me start to break down the new comfort zone that I didn't realize that I had built. Looking forward to the changes and also at the same time, not. :P
So, mission news for you guys. 2 of our investigators lost their room at the Motel and we caught them just as they were leaving. Found out that they are moving to Florida because "If we are going to be homeless it might as well be somewhere warm". It made me sad but I also realized the small miracle that we caught them, we literally caught them as they were walking to their car to drive away the final time. They told us when they get down there to call them so that we could have the missionaries down there continue to teach them. So, hope isn't completely gone yet. We are still teaching the other person at the Motel and hopefully we will be able to get him permission to com to church in the next few weeks.
A lot of work that we have been doing lately has been with the Less-Actives and it has been really progressing with Elder Madsen. He is a bit of a bull dog and that has been great with getting to meet a lot of the people that we haven't been able to before. We have some promising things happening in this regard and I'll let you guys know when something exciting happens. Love the work.
We really did have a lot of things happen this week but I totally forgot most of them. New promise for you guys. I'm gonna start writing down the things that happen in a separate notebook so that I can get all of them to you in this email. I hate writing such short email. I HAVE HORRIBLE MEMORY. Just know that I'm trying to work as hard as I can and that I wouldn't even be able to do the work that I do without the help of the Atonement EVERY SINGLE DAY. I hope that everything works well for you guys this week and I'm looking forward to calling you guys in like 3 weeks. Remember Jesus loves you!!! ;)
Love,
Elder Garrett Darren Smith
