Sorry for there being no pictures this week, when I was trying to upload all the ones from trunk or treat, they got corrupted :/ I'll try to upload what I have... If I have anything. :( My companion is good, there are some things that we need to work on but so far it has been great! The family we taught on last Thursday and the lesson went pretty well, the wife seemed to be very interested in what we were talking about but the husband seemed like he just wants a religion/church that just lines up with all the things that he wants. We are still working with them so I hope we can help him with that.
We do a lot of service when we don't have someone to teach. We've gone tracting a few times but it's not effective in the least in the area that we are in. But the really cool news is that we may have found another investigator! It's really a good story of how you only receive blessing after the trial of your faith or "Good things come to those that work". We had a free afternoon on Saturday where we had no appointments so we decided to do some tracting in the neighborhood. Tracting is still the hardest thing for me, and there is no way I would have been able to do it without the help that I received as I prayed constantly. Needless to say, it wasn't very successful, although we did get one guy to take our number because we said we were free human labor. We had about half an hour before our dinner appointment so Elder Guerrette decided that he wanted to show me the ridiculous playground/fairgrounds that they have here (rich neighborhood) and see if there was a place where we could sign up to do service. The office was closed by the time that we got there so we just started goofing around on the playground (I'M AN ADULT I SWEAR). While we were there we started to talk with a lady that was sitting on a park bench and got to know her. Eventually we had to leave to get to our dinner but we left with her name, address, and left her with a Restoration pamphlet, our name and number and a tentative appointment sometime this week or next. Just goes to show how the good things usually only happen after you have put in the hard work. And the blessing sometimes don't come from where you think they would.
As far as studying goes, I decided to read Jesus the Christ in addition to the readings of the Book of Mormon that I'm doing. IT IS REALLY GOOD, GO READ IT NOW EVEN IF YOU READ IT BEFORE. I started it last Monday and I'm around page 600 now, it is really good. But otherwise I'm trying to read 6 pages of my copy of the Book of Mormon and then 1 chapter of my Joy copy of the Book of Mormon. I've been recently taking a challenge that I heard David A. Bednar give. It was to pick a topic in the gospel and go through the Book of Mormon (One of the paperback ones that we give out) and highlight and mark and annotate every time that we see an example of that. I decided to go though and find example of people experiencing Joy through Trials. It's probably been the best study times I've had since I started. It's also been really fun, it turns the scriptures into kind of a treasure hunt, where the treasure is whatever topic you chose.
