Hello!,
1/12 finished with the mission. Kinda weird. I'm technically only halfway through "training" but I feel like I've been out for forever. But I'm finally starting to get the hang of missionary life. This has been the greatest blessing of my life! I am improving both physically and spiritually as I am out here. I read the Missionary library in the first 2 weeks and I'm on my second read through of the Book of Mormon. There is SO much stuff in there that I didn't even realized was in there!
This week was Thanksgiving and we had it a member's home and they had most or their family there. It was cool because most of them were people that were not members or hadn't gone to church for most of their life. We were able to get everyone to be quiet for a little bit and share a message. We might actually get a referral from the Grandpa... If he can remember the name and get back to us :P. But the cool thing that I've learned this week (Kind of a reinforcement) is that when a missionary gets out there, the Lord puts people in your way. And not always in ways that you expect.
So, story of the week. It's more a story of service than anything else. We were on our way to visit a new member that owns a story downtown and somebody comes running up to us. He asked us if we were the elders and we said yes. I was a little worried because he looked like he hadn't had a shower/bath/breathmint in days/weeks. Turns out him and his mom were members from Alaska and they were on there way to Durango to help a homeless man get back to family. (It's a weird story I know) But their car had broken down and they were trying to get in contact with someone from the church to see if they could get help till the 1st. No numbers were working and we happened to be walking by at the perfect time. We were able to get them a room till then and hopefully today they are getting their van fixed up. I thought it was pretty cool that happened because we weren't even going to be there that day but I just thought of it at the last second and we went.
Second story but not as long. We had some free time on Sunday and decided to try and visit some Potential Investigators and Previous Investigators. We went to the first place (They had never been home up to that point) and lo and behold there was a car in the driveway. They let us come in and we started talking and we will be coming back some time this week to help them with a TV and just talk for a while. Just goes to show how sometimes the only thing you need to do to be a servant for the Lord is to just get up and walk :)
This has been awesome so far. I still have a long way to go though! Thank you so much everyone for the support! I love all of you!!
